A Christmas Carol

My husband and I attended the Lindenwood University's production of A Christmas Carol on Friday night.  It was held in the Black Box Theater in the Scheidegger Center for the Arts.  We are lucky to have such a theater in our town.

Day 6 Photo  Set of the A Christmas Carol play
We love A Christmas Carol because we know that Charles Dickens wrote the play in an urgent message to Londoners who were experiencing the shortfalls of an industrial nation.  Child labor, disease, high poverty.  We continue to face these same problems in today's world.

The director did a notable job in several aspects.  One, no pretend London accent.  The lighting effects, rhythmic sequences and sudden loud noise contributed to the eerie feel of the ghosts' visits.  The audience/player interaction before the play started was fun as well.

We walked away with the sense of renewed responsibility for others not as fortunate as us.  A perfect beginning to the Christmas season.
