#HandcraftedEdible Christmas Gifts-Seasonings

The second in this series of edible Christmas gifts is seasonings.  Such a practical and inexpensive gift!  I use as much homegrown herbs as possible.  This year I didn't dry many herbs, I froze most of them, so I will be purchasing these herbs in mass quantities.

Last year I made a seasoning mix and put it into plastic ornaments that I found at Michael's  Totally cute hanging on the tree, but I found that the spice mix clung to the plastic and was hard to remove. This year I am using the squatty Mason jars with the wide mouth.  Super cute and easy to remove the spices!

I chose to make Italian Spice Blend and Italian Seasoned Salt this year.  Here's why:  you can make the same batch of Italian Spice Blend, divide it in half, add 1/2 c kosher salt, and you now have two gifts!

After processing.
To make this gift extra special, download this cute Christmas gift tag!  Print on cardstock and cut out.  Punch a hole in the top and thread ribbon, yarn, twine or other material through.  Tie onto your spice container.  Ready for gift giving!

In an effort to make all of her holiday gifts this year, Camilla at Culinary Adventures with Camilla invited some of her favorite foodie bloggers to share recipes for hand-crated edibles. Over the course of the next twelve weeks, we'll be sharing recipes from libations (last week's theme) to cookie platters. Hope you'll follow along for inspiration.

Thanks to these gals and their sensational spice blends!

    3. Every time my mom needs Italian seasoning she can't find it and asks me what's in it. I go through the effort to tell her a recipe and she finds her bottle. I am definitely passing your post her way!
