September Rudolph Day!

Meet Wilson! He's dressed for Christmas in 2008.

What are you doing now to prepare for Christmas?

I am in the throes of cleaning. I learned I will be having some major surgery at the end of October so I am trying to get things ready a bit early.

I typically decorate nearly every square inch of the house! I have trees in every room. This year I plan to concentrate on only my favorite trees. We will have trees in the living room, kitchen and family room. The fashion tree, the vacation tree, the snowman tree, the gilded fruit tree, the aluminum tree and the nature tree will all remained pack up for this year. It really bums me because this is possibly the last year we will host the office party for Mr. Christmas Tree Lane's staff.

So, I am concentrating on cleaning the kitchen, living room, dining room and family room this year. I have to say, I like that my cleaning schedule is easier! I will clean carpets and woodwork, windows and window treatments will be cleaned, drawers are being reorganized and furniture is being cleaned. I may have to buy a new love seat for the living room, too, the one we have is nearly shot!

I have consigned an artist to do our Christmas card this year. Have you met Fifi? She has a blog that is soooo much fun. Check her out here! Have you thought about your Christmas cards? If you are doing a photo card, it is time to start thinking about what you might be interested in doing and hiring a photographer or setting the date to get the photo done. I love photo cards!

I hope your September has been lovely and that you are getting excited about the 2009 Chrismtas season!

  1. How cute!!!!!

I just completed a very thorough cleaning of the entire house so I'm ahead of schedule on that one! Will just need to maintain between now and the holidays.

I've been doing photo holiday cards since we had our son, and I plan to do one again this year. I used to get bogged down thinking that I had to take the photos during the Christmas season, but photo cards can just be lovely photos of your family taken at any time of the year! I personally love to combine multiple photos on my cards.

I've already been shopping, so I'll continue shopping early this year. Right now I'm working on my baking list. I have a number of new recipes that I want to try this year so I'm priortizing my baking list accordingly.

  2. It always sneaks up on me! I need to clean out cabinets and closets and the laundry room. That way, when I get ready to decorate, I can store things away neatly.

I'll probably start in November though - with the kids running around, there's no way I could keep it up that long.

    Have a wonderful weekend!
