Yummy Cocktails!

Ashley and I took advantage of our herb harvest to make two wonderful drinks that would be perfect for gift giving at Christmas.  They are wonderful!

To make these wonderful drinks, do the following:

Mix together 3 cups of sugar, 4 c mint leaves, 2 cups of fresh lemon juice, 1 cup of water and the rinds from the lemons into a large kettle.  Bring to a boil then remove from the heat.  Let steep about 20 minutes.  Strain the seeds, rind, and leaves from the liquid, pushing out what liquid gets trapped into the leaves.  Strain until the liquid is clear.  Pour into 8 oz canning jars.

Make the drink by pouring two oz of the cordial into an 8 oz glass.  Add ice and fill up with sparkling water.  Or, if you want a little kick, add about an ounce of vodka to the glass before you add the ice and water. Enjoy!

To give as a gift, add a cute ribbon and the recipe for making the drink.  It would be quite cute to give a cocktail glass along with the drink mix!

  2. Oh my goodness, this sounds wonderful....love tangy things, and this as you say can be used with or without alcohol.

I wonder if I could sub some verbena for some of the mint? Or make some rose water and add?

And one could make that basket even cuter by adding some of the bath cocktails, no?

    Thank you!
