Frugal Gifts for the Office

I love where I work! I am so lucky to work in an office where everyone loves to eat! This year we all decided to cut back on the gift giving and concentrate on the ways we can make everyone's life easier during the month. That doesn't mean there won't be some fun things coming their way, however! Here is one treat I plan to make:

Reindeer Munch

1 10 oz pkg round small pretzels
3 c cheerios
3 c rice chex mix
2 c salted peanuts
1 lb red and green M and M candies
2 pkgs white chocolate chips
3 T vegetable oil

Combine the first 5 ingredients in a LARGE bowl. Microwave chips and oil together 1 minute, stir and continue to microwave in 30 sec. increments until melted. Pour over the dry ingredients, then spread on a long sheet of waxed paper, about 2 ft. long. Cool, and break into pieces.

The container is important! I used recyled tins which makes this an even more frugal gift, but stamping some white or brown paper lunch bags with a cute reindeer stamp is even more fun! I found these cute aluminum containers for this year!

Handmade ornaments are always a thoughtful gift. I take photos throughout the year and transform them into cute ornaments. I use cardstock to make a back, then glue a photo on top of the cardstock and then decorate with ribbons and stickers. We usually hang these cuties on our company tree first, then take them home for the holidays when the office is closed.

What is your favorite frugal office gift? We all need (and collect!) new ideas!

  1. I made little reindeer lapel pins one year out of puzzle pieces. They were so cute. I'll have to do a post about them when it gets closer to Christmas. I also made some lapel pins out of little Christmas lights one year, too. Oh and I made some felt gingerbread ornaments that turned out pretty good. And then some cinnamon sticks and white lace thing-a-ma-gigs that look great on garland. Oh, you've just really got me going with this post. lol

  2. I've got 30 more people at work now, of various ethnicities and religious backgrounds, so I doubt I'll be doing individual gifts at all this year....if I had a garden, I'd probably be making jam for everyone.
